The Helmsman. Launched to the public in March 2014, it marked the birth of Zelos. 3 years and 5 distinct models later, the Helsmsman returns.

Based on the Super Compressor design of the 1960s, the dual crowns and internal bezel of the Helmsman give it a distinct look. With the experience gleaned over the various production runs, the Helmsman 2 has been redesigned from ground up to be a superior timepiece while keeping its predecessor's traits.

The Helmsman 2 was designed to be a diver's watch, while looking perfectly appropriate in a suit or at the office. 300 metres of water resistance is ensured by dual screw down crowns and a double domed sapphire crystal. This is complimented with Swiss BGW9 Superluminova applied generously across the dial, internal bezel and crowns ensuring one of the brightest glows around.

The Hull

The exquisite case of the Helmsman 2 offers a combination of finishings to achieve just the right amount of shine. CNC machined case sides are sandblasted for a smooth finish, with the edges polished to catch a glint of light. The bezel is brushed to hide any scratches that might get picked up with rough use. This bezel is simply screwed on (except for the ceramic variant) and could be changed by hand if you'd like a mix of materials or simply prefer a new bezel.

Marine grade bronze is a metal commonly used for ship propellers due to its corrosion resistance. An oxide layer, called a patina, forms a protective skin over time to protect the metal. This patina individualises each timepiece, creating pieces completely unique to you. What starts out as a shiny rose-gold, ages with the atmosphere into a rustic brown.

Ceramic is also offered for the bezel due to its incredible hardness of 1500 Vickers which resists scratches from everyday use.

Dial Intricacies

The dials for the Helmsman 2 consist of various layers and textures to provide a highly legible yet unique look. Achieving the brightest glow in the dark was one of our priorities. The internal bezel is CNC engraved and then filled with lume to achieve its amazing glow. A fine mix of brushed, polished and matte surfaces compliment the case finishing as well.

Meteorite is a metal approximately 4.5 billion years old with a striking design unlike any other material. Each and every meteorite dial has a different pattern, otherwise known as the Widmanstatten Patterns. This is formed over millions of years of slow cooling, and cannot be reproduced synthetically. We use material from the Muonionalusta meteorite which is found in Sweden and landed over a million years ago.
